We believe that partnering with local organisations is the best way for us to engage new audiences. We are particularly keen to reach groups who traditionally may have little contact with science such as the elderly, minority communities and the disadvantaged. Local organisations and groups who we have and are currently working with include:
* Sheffield Flourish – a local support network for the mental health community
We worked with Flourish to deliver “The Science of Wellness”: a month-long project where we helped participants to devise their own ‘experiments’ to improve their mental wellbeing (September-October 2017).
* Sheffield Theatres
We partnered with Sheffield Theatres to host ‘Making Sense’: a pop-up interactive exhibit themed on the five senses, as part of National Fun Palaces weekend (7th October 2017).
Together with SRUK, we hosted a CinéScience event, “Let’s talk about ALS”: this included a screening of the documentary ‘Jason Becker-Not Dead Yet’ followed by a panel discussion with experts on motor neurone disease (28th October 2017).
* Events Collective
We have provided science-based activities at local events including the Sheffield Food Festival and Illuminate the Gardens.
We are currently planning an activity to take place at the museum during February half term 2018.
If you are interested in partnering with us to deliver an event for your community or organisation we would really like to hear from you! Please get in touch using our contact form or email firstname.lastname@example.org
